Intuitive Tarot

Intuitive tarot is simply reading the cards by drawing on your own meanings, symbols and impressions rather than the traditional interpretation of the cards.

Tarot Readings by Kate, posted this video on YouTube, which illustrates how she does intuitive tarot. It’s very similar to how I do it too and I thought this video may be helpful for others who have considered tarot but were intimidated by all the memorization that has traditionally been involved.

Tarot is a fantastic medium for visual people. If you haven’t selected a card deck yet, I suggest looking through several and finding one rich with imagery that speaks to you. Take several days to look over the cards, note your impressions of each one. What do the images of the major arcana mean to you? Look at what the subject in the illustration is doing. Consider their expression, the colors and any symbols that may be present. When reflecting on the minor arcana cards, ask yourself what the suits equate to in your perspective. Perhaps the pentacles are a symbol of the earth for you or perhaps you see them as a representing work and finance. How are the images arranged on the card? Do the numbers resonate with you in any way?

Intuitive tarot is about impressions so don’t worry about memorizing your own meanings. Your perspective of the cards may change from reading to reading or you may develop a strong sense of what each card means to you. Don’t worry about what you’ve been taught, intuitive tarot is about the thoughts, feelings and emotions that come to you when you are open to receiving them.
