Visualizing emotion is a great way to energize a magic spell. We all use visualization, whether we realize it or not, in our meditations and most of do in our spellwork too. Most commonly, we visualize the outcome we want. For example, if you were doing a spell for a new car, you would visualize what the car looks like or you’d visualize yourself driving the car. To add extra oomph to your visualization, spend a few moments imaging how you would feel, emotionally, if you had your new car. Imagine the excitement of finding the perfect vehicle and receiving the keys for the first time. Imagine the relief of having a dependable vehicle that will get you where you need to go safely and without risk of breaking down. Imagine how it feels to turn up the radio and sing along to your favorite song with the windows down on a warm sunny day.
Emotions are present in everything we do. Visualizing emotion can be done with just about any spell. If you are doing a spell for love, imagine the heart-filling emotion of infatuation in the beginning of a relationship. Imagine, after years of being in a happy relationship, how comforting it is to come home to someone you love and trust. Doing a spell for a new job? Imagine the feeling of being congratulated on your new job. Visualize the feeling you get when you are completely enthralled in a project. Visualize the pride you feel when you work hard and are rewarded for your skill.
Emotions are powerful things and are stronger than images alone. When you are doing your spells and imagining what the outcome looks like, don’t forget to picture what it feels like. If you have trouble picturing emotion, ask yourself, does this emotion have a color? A location in the body? A smell or a sound associated with it? What words are associated with that emotion? Joy, relief, exuberance, excitement, rest, love, happiness? When you are doing your spell, ask yourself, how will this outcome make me feel? Spending a moment focusing that emotional energy is a great way to enhance the effectiveness of any spell.
Quick Tip:
The element of water is associated with emotion. Since fragrance is heavily linked to emotion too, you can use perfume, scented water or a hydrosol in a fragrance that corresponds to the desired emotion in your spell.
